For well over a decade Turkey has been associated to the European Framework Programmes for R&D and innovation. Turkey has invested strongly during these years and has significantly increased science and research outputs, quantity as well as quality of the research community and the level of international collaboration. When considering the size of the country and its research area, there’s still a significant room for participation in the Framework Programmes. To achieve this, the instrument for Pre- Accession Assistance (IPA) new project “Turkey in Horizon2020”, implemented under the responsibility of The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK), aims at strengthening the capacity of Turkey in Science Technology and Innovation (STI) and facilitates integration of Turkish Research Area to ERA through increasing participation in Horizon2020.
One of the many instruments implemented by the Project are three International Brokerage events, bringing together Turkish and European researchers and industry representatives to foster new partnerships for the upcoming Horizon 2020 Programme Calls.
The first of these Brokerage Events took place in Intercontinental Hotel, Istanbul on September 30, 2016 under the title “Cities of the Future 2016” encompassing the H2020 calls of “Smart and Sustainable Cities”, “Energy Efficient Buildings”, “Sustainable Process Industries”, “Circular Economy”, “The European Green Vehicles Initiative” and “Factories of the Future”. The event brought up together 288 participants from Europe and Turkey, coming from research, industrial communities, and municipalities in the domains addressed.
The second Brokerage Event will take place on November 30, 2016 in Radisson Blu Hotel Istanbul with the title of “ICTurkey 2016”. The brokerage event will cover the Information and Communication Technologies field calls on “Big Data and Content”, “Robotics and Autonomous Systems”, “ICT Key Enabling Technologies” and “Internet of Things”. The event will bring up together around 300 participants from Europe and Turkey, coming from research, industrial communities, and municipalities in the domains addressed and bilateral meetings will be available in order to discuss project ideas.
